How to place bets on the win market when the place odds are within a certain range (and vice versa)

Filtering your selections by a given odds range is straightforward when dealing with either the win or the place markets directly.

However, sometimes you want to be a bit more sophisticated and only bet on the WIN market if the odds on the PLACE market  (or bet on the PLACE market if the odds on the WIN market) are within a certain range. So how do you do this?

To bet on the Win market but check odds on the Place market:
  1. Ensure that both the Win and Place markets are loaded. To do this, go to the Events tab and ensure that both Win Market and Place Market are ticked. Click on Reload Races if necessary to ensure that both are listed in the Race grid.
  2. Make sure that Place for Win is ticked on the Criteria tab.
  3. Enter the required place odds range on the Criteria tab.
  4. Make sure that only the Win market races are ticked in the Race grid.
  5. If entering selections manually, make sure you only enter them into the Win market.

OK, so far so good.  But it is a real pain to deselect the races in the Race grid for the markets that you are not interested in.

Well, there are options here as well...

To quickly deselect all place markets, RIGHT click in the blank square in the title bar above the race selection checkboxes in the Race grid. A menu will appear. Just select the Deselect all place markets option.

To quickly deselect all win markets, LEFT click in the blank square in the title bar above the race selection checkboxes in the Race grid. ALL races will become deselected (i.e. both win and place). Now RIGHT click in the same place and select the Select all place markets option in the pop-up menu.

Note - this should be done before you manually enter any selections!

OR

If you are entering your selections manually, a good practice to get into is to ensure that TheBetEngine does not select any races when it starts up. When you enter your selections the appropriate races will become selected automatically.

To prevent TheBetEngine from auto-including the races, go to the General/Auto-Include tab and set the Auto-Include Races option to None.  The next time TheBetEngine is started, no races will be selected on that betting tab.

Generally, I suggest you make the change (if required) and then restart TBE - this ensures that no races are loaded for today (again - this should be done before you manually enter any selections!)
